Philosophy in the workplace... What for?

Change cannot be enforced – it must come from the hearts and minds of the people. Authority cannot be imposed – it must be embraced as a source of personal and collective growth. Innovation cannot happen on its own – it means questioning traditional mental patterns.
Companies used to be in the business of providing answers. Today, they're bubbling with questions - about their purpose, responsibility, and ability to foster commitment and confidence... They're also more complex, which makes them all the more fascinating.
In this new world, thought and action are increasingly intertwined, and intelligence better shared than concentrated in the hands of a few. In other words, businesses are ripe for philosophy.

Our learning courses

Leadership, management, feedback, listening, eloquence… Tailor-made training.

Philonomist's learning courses aim to help directors and managers gain perspective on their daily challenges, question themselves, and identify areas of improvement. Over periods ranging from half a day to two full days, the training team – made up of at least one philosopher – will alternate between collective thought sessions and fun practical exercises (artistic creation, debates, role-play, etc).

The training team, made up of lecturer-philosophers and educational managers, designs and leads tailor-made courses. On the program, a wide variety of formats: participatory workshops, scenarios, conferences, coaching, individual work via Philonomist.com and Trails. These trainings adapt to the rhythm of the participants and can last from one day to one year and take place face-to-face or remotely.

  • Inspiring Seminars

The star format, whether for a big convention or a small group of ten people. A question is explored for 45 minutes to an hour, followed by 30 to 45 minutes of interaction with the audience.
  • Movie-based talks

A philosopher gives a talk, using extracts from films or series to illustrate and inspire philosophical reflection. Between 45 minutes to 2H30 altogether, with regular interaction with the audience.
  • Workshops

More interactive than seminars. Small groups reflect on one particular case, thought experiment, or text, in order to collectively derive meaning from it.
Our conferences

A successful seminar requires both preparation and mediation, which is what Philonomist provides. It does this by 1) understanding the strategic goals of the company and translating them into philosophical terms, 2) recommending a theme, a format, and one or several experts, and 3) preparing their intervention and creating links between Philonomist’s contents.
